LAW SCHOOL RECRUITMENT FORUMS (FREE)

Each year, LSAC sponsors Law School Recruitment Forums (a/k/a Law School Forums) in TEN MAJOR CITIES -- Washington DC, Bay Area San Francisco, and Chicago in the summer; and Atlanta, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and Toronto in the fall. The forums provide potential law school applicants with opportunities to talk with representatives of American Bar Association-approved law schools from across the United States, and with representatives from Canadian and Australian LSAC-member schools. Forum participants can obtain admission materials, catalogs, and financial aid information from those schools. They can attend a workshop ("Forum 101") designed to help them make the most of their time at the forum. Other forum workshop topics include the application process, opportunities for diverse candidates, financing a law school education, the LSAT, and career paths in law. There is also a financial aid information table. In addition, visitors are able to review LSAC publications and LSAT preparation materials.

Before attending the Law School Forum, make sure to do what it takes to

  • SUMMER PRELAW PROGRAMS OPEN TO ALL. Tuition and fees vary but oftentimes tuition and fees are about $1000/week with travel and room and board extra. One exception is the Charles Hamilton Houston Law School Preparatory Institute. Houston area sophomores should check out the University of Houston Prelaw Program Initiatives.

  • SUMMER PRELAW PROGRAMS FOR MINORITY OR DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS. These programs usually offer some of the following: no tuition and no fees, free room and board, payment of some travel expenses, and a weekly allowance. These programs usually last three to six weeks in the summer but there are some one to three-day programs (not necessarily in the summer).
